Firewhips, Wenchs, and Swordsmen
Sep. 2nd, 2008 08:24 pmSo...guess I should talk about yesterday...
Katie spent the night and we were filthy after an entire day of walking around in dust and baking in the sun. But anyways we hauled ass and tried to get there before the Joust of skill, but unfortunately we got there as it ended :(
however we did get to see Adam Crack aka the firewhip guy and it was SO AWESOME! He had "musical whips" and did a bunch of songs, then said he took requests. I jokingly said 'Freebird' and he was like 'ok, but if people want the next ten minutes back I'll tell them to find you.' Since I was still short on sleep I just flashed him the thumbs up. After the firewhip show I wanted to see the Washing Well Wenches (try saying that ten times fast, lol) so I parted from Lucky and Katie, but Lucky showed up a few minutes before it started.
Katie was off getting her hair braided and groping the guy who was doing it :D
The Wenches were HIlarious...honestly, they made me want to be one (if Lucky did it with me I'd be able to) they had a guy wear some fake boobs and he kept touching them so they said "give a guy a pair and he can't stop touching them." and then a few seconds later "stop touching them, you'll go blind." ^-^
Then we met up with Katie and watched the Parade. they spotted Sir William and got all fangirly. We watched the little skit after the parade and spotted Nikky in it (but she couldn't see us 'cause she's blind as a bat without her glasses). After that Katie left to see Nikky and Lucky went to catch up with her fanboy so I sat around waiting for the 'Dirk and Guido: The Swordsmen!' show to start.
On the advice of
cleothemuse they were a must see and Holy Crap! she was right :D
We had seen the tail end of their show the other day but this time we saw the whole thing.
I love them.
The best part, however, didn't come from them. It was from a little girl in the front of the audience. Dirk and Guido were talking about how they should teach the children that swordfighting doesn't solve everything when this little girl shouts, 'But I like swordfighting!'
Everyone just starting cracking up and made Dirk do a face!palm. I laughed so hard that my sides hurt.
After that I left Lucky and Katie to the jousting and went over the noble's glen to watch some of the skits and then wandered around the fairy area while waiting for the joust to finish.
Hung out with them for a few minutes then went to see the Robin Hoode skit (even though I had seen it before it was awesome) and got into a 'if you know what I mean' game with the Lord Mayor and some people. Then I sat around the noble's glen until the Queen showed up and watched them until it was time to go. Then we dropped off Lucky and headed home ourselves.
I was so tired that after dropping off Katie I came home, collapsed in bed, and didn't move until 6:30am.
I'm gonna be honest here and I guess that I was a little tired still from the day before, we all were, so I was a little bitchy but that was because
a) I was tired
b) I still had Spanish homework to do
c) I was dehydrated with nothing to eat all day
d) I got sunburned (even though I put on sunblock)
e) I didn't really want to be there
yes it was cool but at the same time it was my third time there and there wasn't much that I hadn't seen. Katie said that I could go home and that she'd catch a ride with either Nikky or Kay but honestly, I didn't think that they'd come through (it's just want I've come to expect from my group of friends...they're not the most reliable bunch) and there was an after-party for the Faire people so Nikky might not have left until later. Plus I could tell that Lucky didn't want to bum a ride with Fanboy (who was there apparently, I didn't meet him).
Give me the rest of the year to recover and maybe (maybe) I might go back. For a day.
