Watched 'Vegas' (only 'cause I had nothing better to do) and I have to say that it was still the blahness that I've come to expect from the show.

It was painfully obvious that they were ripping off of CSI, so much that I expected to see Grissom show up. Also haven't the cameramen ever heard of a focus and the lighting department heard of lights? Yes they did it for "cinematic effect" but at the same time people still need to see what's going on.

We also got the point that it was an AU when John showed up as a cop so AU!Rodney didn't need to keep on harping on the subject. Although I can somewhat see how it set up 'Enemy at the Gate', but still...we don't need it bashed into our heads.

I also noticed that the Police Department and the Hospital were the same building, just poorly redressed (the same camera angles also gave it away).

the few things that I liked was that John still loved Johnny Cash and that they played him on the show (zomg! real music!) also loved the Manson song. Also that they had Gary Jones show up at the end.

on the subject if AU!Sheppard died or not, I dunno. The wound didn't look that bad but at the same time his jacket was covering it up and they had no idea that he was there (although I can imagine that the pilots reported seeing the car there) but at the same time it looked like it was near his heart so that can spell certain doom and plus he only got a few feet from his car before he collapsed.

There were a couple of things that I would've liked to have seen; an AU!Teyla as well as an AU!Ronon that weren't from Pegasus and a clearer explanation as to how the Wraith found out about Earth because it was John who woke up the Wraith and alerted them to Earth so in theory the Wraith in that universe should never have found out about the planet because John wasn't there to give it away (make sense?).

I'm sure that one was given but I wasn't paying attention, I was trying to see what the hell was going on.

Also another thing I would've liked to see was a Lorne mention, if he was with the Expedition on Rodney's team or even a Det. on LVPD. But that's only my inner LorneLover talking ;)

I'm sure that I'll have my issues with 'Enemy at the Gate' but that'll be a whole other post.

I liked "Vegas" but I only saw the second half of it... so eh... and I'm new to everything as you well know so it holds this shiny newness to it at the moment... but yeah I was sorta thinking about that stuff while I was watching it... and honestly... all the hype over the series finale left a lot to be desired, but i'm used to big emotional finales like Supernatural and Torchwood so... ZOMG! I don't think anyone's finale can beat the ZOMG-ness of Torchwood's... except Supernatural's season three finale... CAUSE OMG! DEAN! but yeah

I know, we were talking on Gateworld about it and someone mentioned that it was a pretty bad filler episode that late in the season and I have to agree; it might have been better to put it at the beginning or even in the middle and save the second-to-last episode for setting up the finale.

you need to watch the good seasons (aka s1-3 up to 'Sunday').

But that would make sense and that's something that the writers/producers/directors on SGA don't really have.

oh, and I have vid!bunnies!!!! :D I just have to figure out how work WMM...hehehee

I haven't watched SGA for a couple of years now but it looks like I haven't missed much. What I did pop in to say tho, is, great choice of music, it's great hearing it live.

I guess we've been spoiled by the writing talent in Dr Who and Torchwood

I think so. That and good sci-fi ;)

Very true, but it's the good sci fi that gets canned, The 4400 was excellent and original and just coming to it's climax when they cancel it, I was really annoyed about that

Oh, there are many people online who will argue with you on that.

Are you one of them? Because IMO the writing is what made me stop watching Atlantis, it's been diabolical

I was talking about I've run across people who think the writing in Doctor Who and Torchwood has been bad. I don't understand them.

I also miss the 4400. I also thought it was pretty original.

I've come across those kind of people too, yes I admit there have been some duff DW and TW episodes, but sometimes I'm left thinking, "If you think that's crap, what the hell have you been watching?" Usually these people are the rabid fangirls/boys who think that JM can do no wrong and think the sun shines out of his arse

I also wonder what they have been watching that's supposedly so good compared to Doctor Who.

Well it certainly hasn't been that last couple of series of Atlantis and SG-1

You do realize that Vegas was supposed to be CSI:Atlantis, right? That was the whole point.

How would there even be non-Pegasus versions of Ronon and Teyla?

Also, there are plenty of other ways the Wraith could have been woken up. Instead of dying, Col. Sumner woke them up, or maybe Lt. Ford or even Teyla. Hell, Daniel might have managed to get to Atlantis the first time around and therefore altered events significantly.

ok, I'll give you the non-Pegasus Ronon and Teyla but a friend on Gateworld mentioned that since John wasn't there he didn't activate the tracking necklace that he found when Teyla showed him the cave so therefore no John = no Wraith, no kidnapping Sumner, etc. and yes, there are infinate variations on how it could have played out.

And yes, I did know that was the whole point but they didn't have to be so obvious about it.

I think someone's been over-analyzing the AU. For all we know, they could've run into the Wraith some other time down the line.

I think they had to be somewhat obvious it was CSI:Atlantis, or it wouldn't have necessarily came across well. I liked it well enough.
