I'm not here to talk about my book.
Jul. 23rd, 2009 05:29 pmI just had the most AWESOME day!
Katie and I went to the Chicago Public Library to see John Green today and it was wickedly COOL! (cut for pics)
First of all he recorded the 'Good Morning Hank, it's Sunday!' with us. It was awesome :D

He talked about Walt Witman and how he used the poem from Leaves of Grass in Paper Towns as well as how the poem was talking about how we needed to get rid of the "us" and "them" and how NerdFighters are trying to get rid of the "them" and "us".

There was also a Q&A session where a person from the CPL asked him if he was going to write anything new (no but he is going to start on the 1st revision for the Paper Towns screenplay), if he had done any pranks when he was young (yes) and some other questions. Then he took a few questions from the audience and told a funny story about himself and the Yeti (his wife, named so because she never shows up on camera).

The story: the Yeti lived in Chicago and was in her third floor apartment with John and her room-mate (they weren't married yet) when the guy below her got drunk and decided to heat up a microwave dinner on his stove and left the plastic wrapping on then fell asleep. So it caught fire and the Yeti tried to knock down the door to wake up the guy but couldn't so she called 911.
Then two really buff firefighters showed up and one of them had these really blue eyes. He turned to the Yeti, John and the room-mate (who were all in their PJs) flashed Yeti and the room-mate a smile and said, "Watch this." The firefighter then faced away from the door and kicked it in with one leg. the Yeti and room-mate just stared and let out a dreamy sigh.
Everyone was laughing since it was just too funny.
John also did his 'happy dance' and the crowd went wild (actually those who knew what it was did).
Then the book signing started and we hung out for awhile, meeting some NerdFighters that were talking about Doctor Who and Torchwood. *waves to
potterfreak0515 and

They told me that there was a Doctor Who store in Lombard. HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS!? I HAVE TO FIND IT NOW!!!
On the way in we got party blowers and John said that he gave them to us because we go to these things and don't really get anything so he went to the party store last night and signed the "party" part of the favor (the cardboard part was the "blower" so the bit that extendes was the "party" part).

Also the CPL gave away copies of Paper Towns, if you had a red dot on the back of your ticket then you got one...Katie got one. Bitch. (j/k...ILU!)

John signed my copy of An Abundance of Katherines. I'm never getting rid of it ^-^
